Ligonier Ministries is an international Christian discipleship organization founded by theologian Dr. R.C. Sproul in 1971. Ligonier exists to serve the church by equipping Christians to articulate what they believe, why they believe it, how to live it, and how to share it. Proclaiming God’s holiness is central to Ligonier’s purpose.

Ligonier produces the Renewing Your Mind broadcast, the Reformation Study Bible, Tabletalk magazine, books, and various teaching series. Ligonier also offers academic degrees through Reformation Bible College. In addition, Ligonier hosts regional, national, and international conferences, offers an online learning community through Ligonier Connect, streams twenty-four-hour Christian internet radio through RefNet, answers biblical and theological questions with Ask Ligonier, pursues numerous translation efforts in other countries, and makes available thousands of unique resources online at Numerous supporting churches throughout the world use these resources in their evangelistic and discipleship endeavors so that, by God’s grace, minds are renewed and lives are transformed. To better serve the church by providing a broad library of trusted teaching, our broadcasts, publications, and educational initiatives address the topics of biblical studies, theology, worldview and culture, church history, and Christian living.

More than four decades of proclaiming the holiness of God:

1970s: The Ligonier Valley Study Center

  • A group of Christian leaders approached Dr. Sproul with the intent of establishing a study center in the Ligonier valley of Pennsylvania where laypeople could receive the benefits of seminary-level teaching without having to attend seminary.
  • Christians from all over the United States attend the Ligonier Valley Study Center to hear Dr. Sproul and other leading evangelical scholars.
  • Recording lectures makes it possible for students who cannot attend the study center to benefit from the ministry.
  • The Ligonier Statement on Inerrancy is adopted, which serves the broader evangelical church in the development of the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy.
  • Publication of Tabletalk Bible study magazine begins.
