Help Equip Christians in the Good Fight of Faith

7 Min Read

As 2025 draws to a close, I’m again humbled by the Lord’s kindness and the faithful partnership of friends like you.

The Apostle’s charge still stands: “Fight the good fight of the faith” (1 Tim. 6:12). This is a call to courageous perseverance—to strengthen Christ’s church with the truth of His Word. By God’s grace, your support of Ligonier Ministries can continue that work into 2026.

The battle before us is not one of our choosing, yet it is one to which we are called. Every generation must take its stand for the truth.

The Good Fight

Our beloved founder, Dr. R.C. Sproul, said this about the Apostle Paul’s exhortation:

“There’s a fight out there, a spiritual war, which every one of us is called to be engaged in. There is such a thing as a good fight. Every Christian is supposed to believe the things of God and to defend the truths of God. But . . . it’s not enough to hold the faith or even to defend the faith. We’re called to contend for the faith.”

Do those words stir you as they do me? R.C. taught us that theology is for life, that right now counts forever, and that every Christian is enlisted in this good fight. Ligonier is here to help the church fight well—not with earthly weapons, but with the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God (2 Cor. 10:4; Eph. 6:17).

This is not a call to novelty, but to faithfulness—to persevere in obedience to Christ and to strengthen His church with the whole counsel of God.

The opposition we face is real, yet Scripture reminds us that we wrestle not against flesh and blood (Eph. 6:12). The weapons of our warfare are spiritual and mighty in the hands of God. That is why your prayers are as vital as your gifts. Will you take a stand with us by donating before December 31? No matter the size, every gift matters, helping to reach across generations and regions with trusted Bible teaching.

This year’s State of Theology survey findings are deeply sobering. Many churches are weak in doctrine and, therefore, weak in discipleship. We pray for revival—but would the church be ready to disciple the harvest if the Lord granted it tomorrow?

That question compels me to serve here. I deeply believe in Ligonier’s mission and its proven approach: biblical depth, theological rigor, and the careful shaping of conviction so that churches reformed by the Word become healthy launch points for Great Commission outreach.

The Word at Work

By God’s grace, Ligonier serves as a supply line to those on the front lines. Every day, we hear from those whose lives are being changed by God’s Word:

  • A father told us his teenager is beginning to answer difficult questions with Scripture “in truth and love.”
  • A chaplain wrote that sound doctrine is bringing stability and hope to men newly converted to Christ behind prison bars.
  • A missionary shared that a single Reformation Study Bible placed in one pastor’s hands is now shaping an entire congregation.

Each story bears witness that the Word of God never returns empty (Isa. 55:11), and these stories belong to you as much as to Ligonier. The Lord has used your prayers and gifts to send truth their way.

Breadth and Depth

Ligonier’s teaching has reached more than 100 million people this year, and by God’s grace, we press toward 200 million annually. Yet our greater goal is depth—disciples formed by truth. That’s why we’re creating guided courses, curricula for ongoing study, resources for pastors and inmates, and translating teaching into people’s native languages.

See what you’re helping to make possible:

  • Training the Next Generation: Through Always Ready youth conferences and targeted resources such as our Growing in God’s Word curriculum, we aim to train 15,000 students over the next three years to stand firm in the good fight of faith.

  • Expanding Prison Outreach: More than 475 chaplains use Ligonier teaching weekly to disciple inmates across 11,000 correctional facilities. Each month, we receive roughly 500 letters from men and women testifying to lives transformed by the power of God’s Word.

  • Providing Study Bibles for the World: Our goal is to distribute 500,000 Reformation Study Bibles to pastors worldwide over the next decade. Many of these pastors have little or no formal theological training. Yet each $25 gift to this campaign equips a shepherd with a study Bible to feed God’s flock.

  • Multiplying Translation Publishing and Distribution: Ligonier now releases teaching every week in the world’s 20 most-spoken languages, part of a decades-long effort to provide clear and faithful theology for the global church.

  • Transforming the Ligonier App: Our free app already serves tens of thousands daily. It will soon include enhanced Bible study, personalized learning pathways, and an intelligent search tool to** reach hundreds of thousands more**.

Faithful Pattern, Faithful Planning

Dr. Sproul often reminded us to be “efficient and effective in deploying every dollar,” pressing each gift immediately into gospel service.

Following that same philosophy, we plan each year in faith, budgeting for the strong response we’ve seen each December. Ligonier’s year-end goal reflects both thoughtful planning and the astonishing growth of our global outreach. We remain on track as we move into 2026, and your participation now will help sustain momentum.

Your year-end gift will immediately help:

We do not view you as mere donors but as “fellow workers for the truth” (3 John 8). Transparency and accountability are central to our stewardship before God. Every dollar is strategically invested in measurable, mission-driven ministries that hold eternal significance.

Your gift this month is crucial—not because we are behind, but because this is how we faithfully plan and how God’s people have historically supplied the need. Meeting this goal ensures that come January 1, teaching is added, translation work continues, pastors are equipped, students are discipled, and every outreach moves forward without delay.

We’re grateful for friends like you who have been part of this vast work. Will you stand with us before December 31?

Press On in the Fight

From our earliest days as a study center to the worldwide fellowship of discipleship we are today, Ligonier’s calling has not changed: to proclaim, teach, and defend the holiness of God to as many people as possible. By God’s grace and with your help, we will continue to serve the church with theology that is clear, biblical, and pastoral. This is truth that deepens love for the Lord Jesus Christ and equips His people to live coram Deo—consciously aware of His gaze so that they strive to please Him.

Dr. Sproul often said, “I want to flood the world with knowledgeable and articulate Christians.” By God’s grace and with your gospel partnership, that vision is being fulfilled day by day as believers around the world grow strong in the knowledge of God and stand ready to give a reason for the hope within them.

Thank you for standing shoulder-to-shoulder with us in the good fight of faith, for praying for revival and reformation, and for giving so that the church may be equipped for the work of ministry (Eph. 4:12). May the Lord keep us faithful to Christ and fruitful in His service until faith becomes sight and the knowledge of His glory fills the earth.
