2014 National Conference Preview — W. Robert Godfrey

2 Min Read

W. Robert Godfrey is president and professor of church history at Westminster Seminary California. He also serves as a teaching fellow for Ligonier and is a visiting professor in the Doctor of Ministry program at the Ligonier Academy of Biblical and Theological Studies. His many books include God's Pattern for Creation, Reformation Sketches, and An Unexpected Journey.

Here's a preview of what he'll be addressing at our 2014 National Conference in March:

Against the World

During the first centuries of the church's existence, there were times when heresy seemed to have won the day. In this session, Dr. Robert Godfrey will reflect on the experience of Athanasius and affirm the calling of Christians to stand against the world, explain that we will have trouble in this world, and remind us of the importance of standing firm against attacks on the person and work of Christ.

Do Not Love the World

Christians are called to be in the world but not of the world. Historically, many have found this a difficult goal to achieve. In this session, Dr. Robert Godfrey will explore why the church finds the world so appealing, the biblical warnings against loving the world, and what love of the world tells us about our souls, and he will advise us on how to recognize the ways that we love the world.

Dr. Godfrey has spoken at many Ligonier conferences and you can find his past messages here. Below is one of his messages from our 2012 National Conference on the Christian mind. In this message, he explained the importance of training up a new generation of Christians who will reject anti-intellectual approaches and engage the philosophical, scientific, and religious challenges of the day in a fully-informed, Christ exalting way.
