WHO WAS R.C. SPROUL?
Dr. R.C. Sproul (1939–2017) was widely recognized as one of the most gifted communicators of the Bible and theology in the past century. He spent his life teaching Christians from all walks of life about the things of God.
Trained as a college and seminary professor, vocations that he continued to pursue throughout his ministry, Dr. Sproul also had a heart for teaching laypeople in the church. This led him to start the Ligonier Valley Study Center in 1971, which later became Ligonier Ministries. Over the course of the next few decades, Dr. Sproul published more than one hundred books, such as The Holiness of God; was the featured teacher on the radio broadcast Renewing Your Mind; served as executive editor of Tabletalk magazine and general editor of the Reformation Study Bible; was first president of Reformation Bible College; and pastored Saint Andrew’s Chapel in Sanford, Fla.
Today, Dr. Sproul is still recognized throughout the world for his articulate defense of the inerrancy of Scripture and the need for God’s people to stand with conviction upon His Word.
