In 2008, we launched Here We Stand, a campaign to establish a campus for Ligonier Ministries and Reformation Bible College (RBC). Five years after moving into our new home and launching the college, the Lord has provided a bustling campus with over 120 students attending RBC and an international headquarters for Ligonier that is already at capacity. In 2014 with our phase 1 goals having been met, and to absorb the fast growth of RBC and eliminate all remaining financial obligations on the campus, we began the next phase of our campaign. Today we're nearly halfway to our phase 2 goal of $13.6M. Over 4,000 supporters have stepped forward to help us meet this goal and we are truly grateful.
"Here We Stand, with one voice proclaiming truth for this and future generations." —R.C. Sproul
The capital campaign effort was helped greatly by recently receiving a $1.1 million gift—the ministry's largest-ever donation. We announced this gift given by the Simpson family of Memphis, Tenn. today at the National Conference. Mrs. Mary Simpson spoke to the attendees about her motivation for supporting Dr. Sproul's vision for Reformation Bible College. "As a community," Mary said, "we are called to raise the next generation of young men and young women who will teach the Word... And we can all be a part of this Great Commission through Reformation Bible College." Having spent many hours discussing the ministry with Mary's late husband, Jeff, I know he felt that same urgency for this mission and we praise God for their careful stewardship and their generosity toward Ligonier.
The campaign is designed to allow RBC to break ground on the centerpiece of our campus, a large 37,000 sq. ft. building that will house multiple classrooms, library, private study rooms, faculty offices, and bookstore and café. By God's grace, we hope to begin construction on the newest edition to the campus in 2017. Capital Campaign gifts of any size allow us to move forward and provide future generations a place to learn and grow in God's truth and serve the church of Jesus Christ around the world. Do you share this vision for Great Commission discipleship?
