Today we concluded our time in Seattle. You can look back on the conversation and photos from the past two days by browsing the official conference hashtag #ligcon on Twitter and Instagram.
Stay tuned for an announcement next week when the messages become available to stream for free. However, below is a summary and several highlights from today:
Today's Sessions
Questions & Answers with R.C. Sproul
Dr. R.C. Sproul began day two by joining us live via video from central Florida to answer questions from our conference attendees. He answered questions on union with Christ, theonomy, the Sabbath, spiritual gifts, and more.
A Curse for Us: The Death of Christ from Derek Thomas
Dr. Derek Thomas then taught about the importance of Jesus' death. Teaching on the substitutionary atonement, he expounded both Jesus' cry, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" and Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
He Is Not Here: The Resurrection of Christ from Steven Lawson
Dr. Steven Lawson continued by teaching on the resurrection of Christ from 1 Corinthians 15. He argued that the resurrection of Christ is inseparable from the gospel. And because our hope is in Christ, it is also in His resurrection.
Questions & Answers with W. Robert Godfrey, Steven Lawson, Owen Strachan, Derek Thomas.
We returned after lunch for a time of questions and answers. Today's questions covered topics such as the law of God, the ordo solutis, Reformed theology, and more.
The Word Made Flesh: The Ligonier Statement on Christology
Dr. Stephen Nichols then turned to the book of Hebrews to teach on the person and work of Christ. He also discussed the Ligonier Statment on Christology and how this concise summary has been translated and distributed around the world.
Taken up into Heaven: The Ascension of Christ from W. Robert Godfrey
Dr. W. Robert Godfrey closed our West Coast Conference by turning to the book of Ephesians and exploring the significance of Jesus' ascension. He reminded us that it doesn’t matter how great the powers of this world are because the ascended Christ is supreme above all.
