We are free to set standards for ourselves as long as we do not impose them on others. If I choose not to drink for fear of becoming an alcoholic, I am not a legalist until I project upon others my faults and fears. All of us are tempted to judge others based not on what Scripture says but on customs that we have elevated to the status of the Word of God. Where is legalism surfacing in your heart?
