Why should we learn about what God is doing in other regions of the world?

That’s a great question. One reason we need to learn about what God is doing in other regions of the world is that we need to have a bigger view of God. We need to get out of ourselves. We have a tendency to think about God and His work only in terms of what He’s doing in me and for me, and that inward focus is not healthy.

The second reason it’s beneficial to look at what God’s doing globally is that there are opportunities. There may be a door that God opens up for you to be a part of a work or to support a work in another place.

And then finally, we need to learn about what God is doing in other regions because we are part of the church in a global sense. We belong to one another, and we need to be praying for one another. We need to be aware of how we can support one another, at least in prayer, in different parts of the world. I think, for example, about brothers and sisters who are persecuted in various parts of the world.

So, for at least those reasons, it’s very important and immensely helpful to have a more global perspective.
