What Is the Opportunity?

Poland is one of the largest countries in Europe by population. The Polish language is spoken by about 46 million people in total, mainly within Poland, but about six million Polish-speaking people live in other countries such as Ukraine, Czechia, Lithuania, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Roman Catholicism dominates the religious history of Poland, though atheism was officially promoted during Communist rule in the twentieth century. Today, about ninety percent of the population identifies as Roman Catholic and less than one percent as evangelical.

Poland officially allows religious freedom. While the number of Polish evangelicals is growing, they can face social opposition in local communities. A small number of Reformed congregations have been planted across Poland in recent decades, yet there remains a great need for more trustworthy discipleship resources in the Polish language.

The Reformation Study Bible

The Reformation Study Bible is designed to help Christians deepen their study of God’s Word. We have identified a highly qualified translation team to make this trusted resource available in Polish, and this work is underway. You can now view a sample of the Polish Reformation Study Bible.

As with the English edition, the Polish translation of the Reformation Study Bible will contain more than 1.1 million words of verse-by-verse commentary and topical explanations, award-winning maps and visual aids, contributions from seventy-five distinguished scholars and theologians, theological summaries from Dr. R.C. Sproul, and nearly two thousand years of Christian creeds, confessions, and catechisms. As Dr. Sproul once said, “The light of the Reformation was the light of the Bible.” The same is true today as Polish-speaking Christians seek to take a bold stand for God’s Word.

By God’s grace, the truth of the gospel is reaching Polish-speaking people online. Ligonier’s dedicated Polish website is providing ready access to trustworthy Bible teaching. Our website contains historic Christian creeds and confessions, with additional materials underway.

The Ligonier Statement on Christology

Confusion abounds regarding Christology—the doctrine of Christ. As the church continues to grow, it is imperative that believers learn the truths of Scripture as summarized in the great confessions of faith. We produced The Word Made Flesh: The Ligonier Statement on Christology to help Christians know what the church has historically taught and to provide clarity on the person and work of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to distribute this statement worldwide, and it has already been translated into numerous languages, including Polish.
