In this pre-conference presentation in the "Henry Chapel" at First Baptist Orlando, Steve Baker, attorney and senior planner with Barnabas Foundation, will share ideas that reflect biblical principles of stewardship and the importance of wise planning. Learn how tax-wise decisions can help you provide for your individual and family needs, and become a model of discipleship for those who follow you.

While the church today struggles in the face of anti-Christian opposition, this is not something new. Working out of 1 Corinthians 1:23, Dr. Steven J. Lawson will remind us in this session that we face the same kinds of struggles today that the church at Corinth faced two thousand years ago. Like them, we face objections to two fundamental truths of our message: the reality of sin and the notion that Jesus alone can save. Dr. Lawson will insist, as Paul did, that we cannot negotiate either truth.

In previous centuries, it was said by some that children should be seen but not heard. Christians are often treated in the same way. In this session, Dr. Albert Mohler will argue that in our day, as in the days of Rome, the world is quite content for us to believe what we like as long as we keep our faith to ourselves. He will affirm that although our beliefs have been marginalized, our faith continues to impact the whole world.

The old saying goes, "You don't polish brass on a sinking ship," and Christians today might be tempted to see the world as the sinking ship. In this session, Dr. Sinclair Ferguson will remind us that the world was made by our Father and belongs to our Father. He will remind us that the dominion mandate not only abides, but will be carried through, and that this ship will not sink.

During the first centuries of the church's existence, there were times when heresy seemed to have won the day. In this session, Dr. Robert Godfrey will reflect on the experience of Athanasius and affirm the calling of Christians to stand against the world, explain that we will have trouble in this world, and remind us of the importance of standing firm against attacks on the person and work of Christ.

God's work of redemption involves more than the salvation of a handful of souls. In this session, Dr. Sinclair Ferguson will explore the breadth of the promises of the gospel. He will explain how Scripture moves from the glorious truth of the redemption of our souls to the promise that all the elect from every tongue and tribe will be saved. This message will also look to the redemption of the groaning creation, reminding us that the end of the world is not destruction but re-creation.

Throughout history, well-meaning Christians have sought to save and change the world through earthly means. In this session, Dr. Derek Thomas will explore what it means to be a remnant. He will affirm that Sodom was destroyed not because of a lack of hospitality, as liberals claim; nor because of perversions, as conservatives claim; but because God did not find ten righteous men in the city. Dr. Thomas will explain that we change the world by being the church.

In the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz, a tornado carries Dorothy and Toto to a faraway land. When they arrive, Dorothy says, "Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." Many Christians feel the same sense of unease about the culture in which they now find themselves. Non-Christian ideologies and philosophies are now the norm. In this session, Dr. R.C. Sproul Jr. seeks to equip the church to intelligently engage this brave new world.

To become a Christian is to be enlisted in a war, one that is fought on three main fronts. In this session, Rev. Voddie Baucham will remind us how the world, the flesh, and the devil work against the kingdom of God. He will explain why battle, struggle, and hardship should not surprise us as Christians.

Ours is an ethically confused world. Materialist scientists tell us that since all is matter, there is no ultimate basis for judgments of "good" and "evil." Relativists claim that what is "good" for one person or culture may not be "good" for another person or culture. Some Christians have largely absorbed the secularist worldview to the point that their lives are virtually indistinguishable from the lives of nonbelievers. In this session, Dr. Derek W. H. Thomas will help Christians get a grasp on the true foundation of ethics in the Word of God, and he will examine how this foundation helps us to make wise decisions on a wide range of issues.

Christians are called to be in the world but not of the world. Historically, many have found this a difficult goal to achieve. In this session, Dr. Robert Godfrey will explore why the church finds the world so appealing, the biblical warnings against loving the world, and what love of the world tells us about our souls, and he will advise us on how to recognize the ways that we love the world.

Those who walk merely by sight will almost always despair at the conditions in the sin-sick world around them. In this session, Dr. R.C. Sproul will remind us that the world ultimately exists to make manifest the glory of Christ. He will affirm that in the midst of our hardships or in the midst of decline, God is on His throne, working all things according to the good pleasure of His will. He will encourage us by saying that while we labor in God's name, the Lord does indeed reign.
