2016 National Conference: Day 2
Below is a summary and several highlights from today:
No Hope Without It: The Life of Christ from Steven Lawson
Day two began with Dr. Steven Lawson addressing the work of Christ and specifically His active work of obeying the law perfectly. By His death He removed sin from us, but it was by His obedience that He secured our righteousness. As Dr. Lawson concluded, “You gain more in Christ than you ever lost in Adam.”
A Curse for Us: The Death of Christ from Ian Hamilton
Ian Hamilton continued by teaching on the double imputation of the atonement. He walked through Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
During lunch, Tim Challies led a Youth Seminar along with Greg Koukl, Dr. James Anderson, and Dr. Tim Keesee. Dr. Anderson addressed worldviews, Tim Challies considered technology and the Christian, Greg Koukl shared tactics for evangelism, and Dr. Keesee helped us understand the Great Commission.

In this special session, Drs. R.C. Sproul and Stephen Nichols unveiled the Ligonier Statement on Christology. He Is Not Here: The Resurrection of Christ from Michael Reeves

In it, death has been swallowed up in victory, and the serpent’s head, crushed. He also reminded us that because Christ is the righteous One, our identity is found in Him and not in ourselves.
Taken up into Heaven: The Ascension of Christ from W. Robert Godfrey
Dr. W. Robert Godfrey closed our day by giving reasons why, as Jesus says in John 16:7, “It is to your advantage that I go away.” These reasons included Christ’s receiving of glory and His bestowing of gifts upon the church.
