The Word Became Flesh - Ligonier Leadership Conference (VI)

1 Min Read

Ligon Duncan reminds us that our answer to the question "Who is Jesus?" is of crucial importance. Every religion and cult has a different answer to that question. Many individuals in our culture will not hesitate to tell us: "To me, Jesus is...."

The one thing all of these have in common is that they ignore the one source where the answer is found -- Holy Scripture. The scriptural writings are vitally concerned to tell us who Jesus is. And what do they say? Jesus is the Word made flesh? He is God-incarnate. He is the Messiah. He is Lord, and He is Savior.

But what difference does it make? All of the difference in the world. Jesus is the only way to the Father. If we are to be saved, we must trust in Jesus alone, but if we do not know who Jesus is, we cannot place our faith in Him. We cannot trust in the Mormon Jesus and be saved. We cannot trust in the Jehovah's Witnesses' Jesus and be saved. We cannot trust in the liberal Jesus and be saved. We can only be saved if we trust in the real Jesus, the Jesus who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and who was born of the Virgin Mary, the Jesus who is God incarnate. He is the one who died for our sins, who was buried, and who was raised from the dead. He is the one who ascended into heaven and who sits at the right hand of God. He is the one who will come again to judge the living and the dead.

Who do you say that He is? It is the most important question you will ever consider.
