Registration is now open for our 6th annual Pastors Conference to be held October 20-23 in Lake Mary, Florida. R.C. will be joined by Sinclair Ferguson and Steven J. Lawson, both great friends of Ligonier. Let me tell you a few stories about our two specially invited speakers. Over the last few years it's been a real privilege to watch Drs. Lawson and Ferguson in action in conferences and in their home churches respectfully. The truth of the matter is I am very fond of both these men.
Steve Lawson is a preaching dynamo. In the times I have been with him he seems to be living and breathing until the next moment he will exposit God's Word. Watch him spontaneously summon George Whitefield here. He is enthusiastic, kind and earnest. I have observed him interacting with folk both great and small, always listening and learning. (Steve doesn't tell a lot of people this but he was a big time athlete in his college days, quarterbacking the Texas Tech Red Raiders under Coach Jim Carlen.) The thing I most appreciate about Steve is how he has followed his scriptural convictions wherever they have led him. Steve's dear family is a treasure as well.
Sinclair Ferguson, like R.C., is someone many of us have read and trusted as a forthright interpreter of scripture for many decades. As a boy, I remember listening to Dr. Ferguson as a guest in my home talk about the deepest theological mysteries in such a clear and powerful way. On another occasion I brought an unbelieving friend with me to hear him preach because I knew that that Dr. Ferguson's great theological understanding would be impressive to a highly educated agnostic but that his preaching would be marked by his humble, relentless pursuit of the truth of God's glory. Dr. Ferguson message that night was "God's Love for His People." He helped me begin a conversation with an unbelieving friend. And John Piper when asked at the T4G'06 conference what preacher do you listen to today, he immediately responded "Sinclair Ferguson." You can listen to Sinclair Ferguson here.
The Ligonier Pastors Conference is a yearly highlight for us as we get the opportunity to serve and be with many of our closest friends in the local church. In addition to our outstanding speakers one of the unique features of this Pastors conference is its size; it's purposefully intimate in scope, just a few hundred guys altogether, so, if you've always wanted to ask R.C. a question at a conference this is the conference for you! Throughout the week people enjoy numerous question times with R.C. and the speakers.
This event is largely underwritten by donors. Because of their generosity we can offer the conference at a fraction of the cost. You'll enjoy a marvelous central Florida hotel, delicious meals together with attendees, lots of books and resources, and fellowship throughout the day in and around the hotel. The schedule is full of teaching and singing but also has some strategic free time.
Our stated goal is to share some guidance with you as you keep God at the center of your ministry. We also hope to encourage and equip you in your calling and hopefully connect you to others on the frontline. Ministers shouldn't be alone. Sign up now, as this event fills up very quick. Even though it will be the early fall everywhere else in the country, do bring your summer clothes to central Florida and enjoy R.C.'s specially designed conference for you, the pastor.
***** Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Online registration is not available for this unique event. Call our resource consultants soon at 800-435-4343 to reserve your place.
