Ligonier Ministries has begun working with a unique translation effort called Gospel Translations. It's a partnership between several ministries. We appreciate our friends at Sovereign Grace, Desiring God, and 9Marks who have spearheaded this effort.
As Philip Jenkins has written, Christianity is growing in the Global South. Our concern is that this would be healthy growth fueled by historic Christian theology -- rooted in the gospel rediscovered during the Protestant Reformation. For many years, Dr. Sproul has talked of this socio-religious geographical shift and sees it as the next phase of Ligonier's outreach.
Our focus with the Gospel Translations partnership is to translate many of our historical Tabletalk feature articles through their "open source" translation methodology. The magazine is in its 31st year and there is a veritable treasure chest of theological gems in its archives from some of the best authors in Christendom. Thanks to Burk Parsons and the Tabletalk staff for supporting this work and preparing the source material. I might add that our work with Gospel Translations is in addition to the wonderful kingdom work being done by our International Outreach division through our translation teams in Colombia and Ukraine.
Pray with us as Ligonier Ministries seeks to get solid Christian literature in the hands (and hearts) of our brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you to our donors and Ministry Partners who enable us to do this work expecting no financial return from the people we serve in distant lands.
