• The Lord, Our Shepherd Devotional

    Psalm 23

In Psalm 8, David asks the Lord why He is so mindful of human beings, creatures who can seem so insignificant in comparison to the grandeur of the rest of creation. We should never fail to marvel that the self-existent and eternal Creator takes interest in us. He does so for the sake of His own name, for He has made us in His image. bearing this image is a distinct privilege and also a sober responsibility, so let us be thankful that God does pay attention to us and serve Him with gladness. • Our Shepherding God Devotional

    Psalm 23

Many well-intentioned people promise that coming to Jesus, the Great Shepherd of the sheep, will solve all of life’s problems. While one day this will be true, we will face the enemies of the world, the flesh, and the Devil before Christ returns to consummate His kingdom. We should not grow angry with God in times of suffering, then, for He has not promised us an easy life, though He has pledged to sustain us in our difficulties (Isa. 43:1–3). View Resource

  • Understanding Suffering Devotional

    Psalm 23

The Lord never tells His people that they will not suffer. This is all the more important to remember in the midst of a culture that wants instant gratification and believes it is a divine right to avoid pain and have a comfortable life. Knowing that suffering will surely come encourages us to look for God’s presence in our troubles. For as we see in today’s passage, we can be assured that He is with us even as we go through the darkest times. View Resource
