Frequently Asked Questions
Print Licensing
-
If I purchase the digital version, how does print licensing work?
We provided churches and individuals with the ability to purchase digital print licenses for the sake of convenience. As an example, if your church needs 25 copies (either partial or full copies), then you’ll need to purchase at least a 25-seat license. This means only 25 copies can be printed EVER. With each physical copy printed, the number of available print licenses is reduced by one.
-
If an individual chooses to print the digital version AND keep it on their computer, then how many print licenses are used?
In this case, the number of print licenses used is only 1, because only 1 individual is using the file. If that individual chooses to give their printed copy to another person, OR chooses to share their electronic version with another person, then that would constitute as 2 print licenses used. We don’t recommend this, except when necessary.
-
Is there an expiration date on print licenses?
Yes. Print licenses are valid for 1 year from the purchase date. After that, they expire and new print licensing must be purchased to print new copies.
-
Can print licenses be transferred?
No. The church or individual purchasing the print licenses is the only one with permission to print. For an individual purchasing the print licenses on behalf of a specific church, we do not make a distinction between the individual and the church.
-
Can I share a digital file with someone else?
We know there may be a specific scenario that requires it. So, if you decide to do this, then we ask that you provide the following communication:
“I’d like to share a specially licensed file. I share it with one stipulation: that you do not pass it along to anyone else (in part or in full), either a printed or digital version. Ligonier Ministries allows me to share this digital version with you, but has not given you permission to print or share it. If you would like the freedom to print this, then please support their ministry by purchasing a license at www.Ligonier.org. Thank you for your honesty.”

What is Congregational licensing?
Congregational licensing is a digital print license from Ligonier Ministries. It is valid for one year from date of purchase to be used by a single congregation.
Congregational licensing allows for printing of hymns (lyrics and/or music) in church bulletins and digital display for congregational singing. This license is not transferable. Lyrics and/or music may not be posted on any website without written permission from Ligonier Ministries. -
How do I renew a Congregational license?
Congregational licensing may be renewed annually by written request for a 1-year period after the expiration date at no additional cost. Send an email to licensing@ligonier.org (mailto:licensing@ligonier.org) mentioning "Congregational Licensing Renewal" in the email subject line and provide a brief explanation of the request in the body of the email.
