True Truth

When Jesus told Pontius Pilate that He came into the world to bear witness to the truth, Pilate responded by asking, “What is truth?”   (John 18:37–38). In so doing, Pilate identified himself as one of many skeptics throughout the ages who have questioned what truth is and whether it is possible to know objective truth at all. This session will consider objective truth, reminding us that truth does exist and that Christians are called to bear witness to the objective truth of the gospel.

The Search for Truth

What is the meaning of life? Human beings are driven by a quest for meaning, and they find everlasting meaning when they know the truth and live by it. This session will consider the universal human search for truth, how truth can be found only in Christ, and the importance of living by truth in this world.

The True Messiah

Throughout human history, many people have claimed to be teachers sent by God. Many have claimed to have a revelation from God, and many have denied that Christ is the revelation of God or that Christ is the only way to God. This message will consider the exclusivity of Christ, contrasting faith in Him with the false religions of this world and calling us to remember that Christ is the only way of salvation.

The Rejection of Truth

When people reject the one true God, they develop worldviews centered on the worship of other things. Christians must be prepared to recognize these false worldviews and to give answers to those who hold to them. This session will consider the rejection of truth as demonstrated in non-Christian worldviews and equip Christians to articulate and defend the Christian worldview.

The Goal of Truth

As the God of truth, our Lord uses truth to make us holy, equip us for Christian service, and enable us to worship Him in spirit and in truth. We therefore study the truth of Scripture not merely to fill our heads with knowledge but to grow in holiness, seeking to serve Christ and live before the face of God in a manner that pleases Him. This session will consider how God uses truth in our sanctification, service, and worship.
