The Apostle Paul endured some of the greatest suffering anyone has ever experienced for being a follower of Christ. Paul suffered rejection, beatings, imprisonment, and ultimately death as he fulfilled his Apostolic ministry.
Given the extent and depth of Paul’s suffering, it would have been easy for him to get discouraged and to find little reason to rejoice during his earthly sojourn. Yet this is not what we see in the writings of Paul. Confident in the sufficiency of Christ, he found joy even in his trials. We see this particularly in his epistle to the Philippians. Writing from prison, Paul exhorted the Christians in Philippi to rejoice in Christ and to press on, as he knew that the Savior would supply all his and their needs.
On November 9-10, 2018, we are hosting a regional conference titled “Press On” in Lancaster, Pa. We invite you to join us as Ligonier Teaching Fellows Drs. W. Robert Godfrey, Steven Lawson, Albert Mohler, and Stephen Nichols take us through the book of Philippians, highlighting the key lessons we learn from the letter and from Paul’s life and ministry. They will cover important topics such as the incarnation, finding joy in the midst of trials, honoring servants of Christ, having a mind shaped by Christ, and more.
We believe that this will be an edifying time of worship, fellowship, and study as we gather to honor Christ and learn from His Word. We hope that you will be able to join us in Lancaster for this special event.
