A New Staff Member at Tabletalk: Rev. John Tweeddale

from Jan 13, 2015 Category: Tabletalk Magazine

As we consider this beginning of a new year, we as a ministry are grateful for God’s provision—both in the past and in the present. We look forward with hope to the future, trusting in His providence.

By that same provision, Tabletalk magazine has existed for more than thirty years. Our need for more staff has grown in that time, and thus we are pleased to welcome our newest staff member, Rev. John Tweeddale. He will be serving as senior associate editor of the magazine. Rev. Tweeddale brings with him a significant amount of wisdom and experience, having recently served as senior pastor of First Reformed Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Pittsburgh, Penn., for five and a half years. He also previously taught courses in church history and systematic theology as an adjunct professor at Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh. In his new role, Rev. Tweeddale will not only be serving to contribute to the work of Tabletalk, but he will also be teaching several courses at Reformation Bible College. Rev. Tweeddale is a welcome addition to Ligonier as we seek to proclaim the knowledge of God and His holiness to the world.

Rev. Tweeddale holds a master of divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Miss., and his bachelor’s degree is from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss. Rev. Tweeddale is also finishing doctoral work at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland on the relationship of hermeneutics, covenant theology, and christology in the post-Reformation era. His thesis is entitled “A Sure Foundation: Messianic Patterns in John Owen’s Discourses on Hebrews.” In addition, he is co-author with Dr. Derek Thomas of The Essential Commentaries for a Preacher’s Library, and he has contributed chapters to The Beauty and Glory of Christian Living and The Ashgate Research Companion to John Owen’s Theology as well as multiple articles to Tabletalk and Reformation21 over the years. He is married to Angela, and they have three children.

We’re grateful to God for His provision in sending Rev. Tweeddale to serve with us, and we trust the Lord for His provision in this new year. By His grace, we will be faithful with the ministry that He has entrusted to us, and we will continue to proclaim His truth to the world.
