Summary

In this collection of sermons on I Corinthians 13, Jonathan Edwards shows that Christians are called to exemplify the great virtue of love through their thoughts and actions. First published in the 1800s by Edwards’ grandson, Tryon, this edition has been re-edited to restore Jonathan Edwards’ original style.

“Instead of being a maudlin, romantic wedding recitation, Edwards’ treatment of 1 Corinthians 13 becomes one of the most demanding and humbling pieces on divine revelation we may ever encounter. Under Edwards’ scrutiny, our failure to live the love we’re called to is so clear that we are driven once more to cling to the cross.” - From the new introduction by R.C. Sproul

Jonathan Edwards, America’s greatest theologian and a hero of mine, gives us this excellent exposition of 1 Corinthians 13. Here is a man who knew what it means to love Christ.”

Wonderful

As I read through this book, it's on my lap at this very moment, it's filled with wonderful eye opening moments where you can feel the spirit of God working in you. The book is lovely and well made. But I do wish it had been better edited. There are typos all over the place and I'm not even out of the first chapter yet. I've seen this before with Soli Deo Gloria books, I love them and wish I had opportunity to read them all, but my copy of Gospel Worship by Jeremiah Burroughs was a dreadful mess.

Most convicting and elevating contemplation ever!

My favorite book by far! Your mind, your heart and your soul will be filled with the Holy Spirit as you contemplate the nature and the depths of God's love in these pages; as you will also be wholly convicted of your complete dependancy on Christ for love...to know what love is, to know the love of God, and to pray that God, in his mercy, will teach you how to love.
