John Wallis was born in Ashford, Kent, the son of a minister. He was
admitted to Emmanuel College in 1632, and studied, ethics, physics,
metaphysics, medicine, and anatomy. He received his M. A. there in 1640 and
was ordained as a chaplain. In 1643 he was called to be a member of the
Westminster Assembly, serving as a secretary.
Wallis was noted for being an exceptional mathematician in his day,
but was also a sound preacher of the Word. |
