 Gurdon Saltonstall was born in Haverhill MA in 1666 and graduated from
Harvard in 1684. He was ordained minister of the Congregational church
in New London CT in 1691. He was chosen governor of CT in 1707, a post
he held until his death. He was instrumental in the permanent
settlement of Yale College at New Haven. |
