Robert Rollock was born about 1555, and in 1574 entered St. Salvatore's
College in the University of St. Andrews. While there, he so
distinguished himself as a student and scholar that, after receiving his M. A.
degree, he was made one of the regent professors of the college. He
became a noted educator and preacher, and was the first principal of the new
University of Edinburgh. In 1598 he became minister at one of the
churches in St. Gile's Cathedral. Rollock died in 1599, in his 44th year.
His works were collected in 1849 in two large octavo volumes by the
Wodrow Society, under the title Select Works of Robert Rollock. Soli Deo
Gloria intends to one day reprint these two volumes.
