Samuel Mather was born and died in Boston. He was the son of Cotton
Mather. He graduated from Harvard in 1723. He was pastor of Boston’s
Second Church until 1741, when he was dismissed. A number of his
congregation established a new church, where he ministered until his death in
1785. He is known as "the last of the Mather dynasty."
