Mather Byles

Mather Byles was born and died in Boston. Byles graduated from Harvard in 1725. He was an orthodox Calvinistic Congregational pastor of the Hollis St. Church until he was dismissed in 1776 for having Tory sympathies during the time of the American Revolution. While he wrote several treatises, he was most known for his poetry.
