Thomas Barlow was educated at Queen’s College, Oxford. He became a teaching fellow there, and was a master of logic, casuistry, and philosophy. The great Puritan John Owen was one of his students. He was a staunch Calvinist, and an even more staunch opponent of Romanism.
He spent time as the librarian of the Bodleian Library at Oxford. When Thomas Fuller died, Barlow became the Bishop of Lincoln. While published extensively during his lifetime, none of his works have been reprinted. |
