In the fall of 2006, Ligonier Ministries sponsored a new outreach aimed at encouraging ministers and lay leaders in the local church. The Pastors Fellowship began in September 2006 in a historic hotel in downtown Greenville, South Carolina, attracting over 60 ministers from 10 different denominations. Our speakers have included a noted bible scholar, a missionary to Muslims, and a former NFL player turned pastor.
 What is the Pastors Fellowship?
The Pastors Fellowship is designed to provide pastors from various denominations with a forum for fellowship and good teaching but primarily to be a source of encouragement for men doing ministry in the local church. Simply put it is great fellowship over good food with a challenging message from a noteworthy scholar/pastor/teacher in the region.
Since we’ve begun, we have been encouraged by the friendships in the Lord we see developing in this wonderfully eclectic group of guys. Ministry leaders from a variety of backgrounds, including inner city African-American pastors, suburban church planters, professors, rural pastors, large church staff members and small church solo ministers, have found the the Pastors Fellowship to be a valuable asset in building relationships within their evangelical communities.
Is the Pastors Fellowship meeting anywhere near my city?
Ligonier hopes to take the Pastors Fellowship to several new cities including some special events for ministers held around our regional conference sites. Keep watching the website for announcements about these events.
If you are interested in hosting a Pastors Fellowship in your city or you have other questions about Ligonier Ministries’ involvement in the local church, please contact Melton L Duncan (864-230-5644), our Director of Church Relations, and he would be happy to assist you. |
