Ligonier Academy Partners with ReformaDos to Train Church Leaders in Puerto Rico

2 Min Read

Ligonier Academy has partnered with ReformaDos in Puerto Rico to serve Spanish speaking church leaders. Later this month, Ligonier Academy will send one of many trusted theologians and pastors to Arecibo, Puerto Rico to teach courses for a "school of ministry" program. We are grateful for this opportunity to partner with ReformaDos as they organize and host these events.

ReformaDos trains Hispanic pastors, leaders, and church planters in the areas of biblical doctrine and healthy church practice. For the past two years they've hosted similar events that were received very warmly, with between 150-200 leaders attending each course. ReformaDos also has a large web presence and will be streaming these courses online to a worldwide audience.

The "school of ministry" program began as ReformaDos wanted to offer non-degree courses that would provide the participants with preliminary training needed to properly handle the Word of God. While not intended to supplant formal seminary training, the school of ministry follows the topical framework of some of our courses in the Ligonier Academy Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) program as well as elements from the Reformation Bible College curriculum. Ligonier Academy will be sending teachers until January 2015. Here is the current schedule:

  • November 2013Doctrine of Justification, Dr. R.C. Sproul Jr.
  • January 2014Doctrine of Sanctification, Dr. Ben Dunson
  • March 2014Introduction to OT Biblical Theology, Dr. Michael L. Morales
  • May 2014Reformed Philosophy of Ministry, Rev. Burk Parsons
  • July 2014Introduction to Expository Preaching, Rev. Nick Batzig
  • September 2014Worship, To Be Announced
  • November 2014Missions and Evangelism, Pastor Tony Carter
  • January 2015Pastoral Care, Rev. Kevin Struyk

It is our prayer that these classes would better prepare the participants in Puerto Rico to serve their congregations, family, and neighbors in the glorious truths of the historic Christian faith. Please join us in praying for this outreach. Again, we give thanks to God for the generous support of Ligonier's Ministry Partners who enables us to serve the global church in this and so many ways.
