2015 National Conference Preview: Sinclair Ferguson & Alistair Begg

3 Min Read

Sinclair Ferguson is professor of systematic theology at Redeemer Seminary in Dallas, a visiting professor in the doctor of ministry program at Ligonier Academy of Biblical and Theological Studies, and a Ligonier teaching fellow. An articulate and powerful defender of the Reformed faith, Dr. Ferguson has also written more than two dozen books, including The Holy Spirit, By Grace Alone, and In Christ Alone.

Here's a preview of what he'll be addressing this February at our 2015 National Conference:

Christ's Message to the Church

The Reformers warned us that darkness will once again overcome large portions of the church if the gospel is not proclaimed and defended in every generation. Through the Apostle John, our Savior issued a similar warning to the seven churches of Asia Minor, calling them to return to Him lest they fall into darkness and their lampstands be removed. Dr. Sinclair Ferguson will open our conference by considering what Christ might have said if one of the seven letters to the churches in Revelation 2–3 had been specifically addressed to the church in the modern West.

You can find all of Dr. Sinclair Ferguson's past conference messages here, but below is his message titled, "This is My Father's World" from our 2014 National Conference. Dr. Ferguson reminded us that the dominion mandate not only abides, but will be carried through.

Alistair Begg is senior pastor of Parkside Church near Cleveland, Ohio, and the featured teacher on the daily radio program Truth for Life. A native of Scotland, Dr. Begg graduated from the London School of Theology and has served as a pastor for nearly forty years. He has written or cowritten several books, including Name above All Names, Made for His Pleasure, and Preaching for God's Glory.

Here's a preview of what he'll will be addressing at our 2015 National Conference:

No Place for Truth

We are facing a culture that does not see truth as absolute, that says all paths lead to God, and that disdains the rigorous intellectual pursuit of the things of the Lord. Such darkened thinking resists the light of God’s Word, and it influences the church in ways that hinder our ability to shine forth the Lord’s truth. Dr. Alistair Begg will look at the threats of anti-intellectualism, relativism, and postmodernism, exhorting us to proclaim Christ as the way, the truth, and the life. Dr. Begg will call us away from a low view of truth to a view that places truth front and center in the Christian mission.

You can find all of Dr.Begg's past conference messages here, but below is his message titled, "Preach the Word" from our 2013 National Conference. Dr. Begg affirmed the power and necessity of biblical preaching, explaining how the foolishness of preaching is God’s appointed method for reaching the lost and feeding the sheep.
