2014 West Coast Conference — Day 2

3 Min Read

Our 2014 West Coast Conference has come to a close. Over two days, thousands of Christians enjoyed teaching and fellowship as they were encouraged to live as Christians in a post-Christian culture. You can go back and browse the official conference hashtag #ligcon on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Google+ for some of the updates, but here's a summary and several highlights from this final day.

Today's Sessions

The Moment of Truth from Steven Lawson

Pilate asked Jesus, "What is truth?" (John 18:38). Beginning the final day of our 2014 West Coast Conference, Dr. Steven Lawson delivered a primer on truth. In sharp contrast with the claims of the world, truth is absolute and the same in every generation. If it's new, it's not true. Ultimately, Jesus is the truth and therefore the question "What is truth?" is a matter of eternal consequence.

Questions and Answers with Stephen Meyer, Albert Mohler, R.C. Sproul, and R.C. Sproul Jr.

Today's questions and answers session included addressing how to evangelize those in the workplace, submission in marriage, intelligent design, the rise of pornography, and more.

Welcome to the Machine from Albert Mohler

Our afternoon sessions began with Dr. Albert Mohler critiquing a naturalistic and materialistic view of the universe. He exhorted us to firmly stand on the foundation of Scripture and to hold tightly to the biblical worldview that alone explains the true origins and operations of the universe.

Darwin: A Myth for the Post Christian Mind from Stephen Meyer

Dr. Stephen Meyer continued this afternoon by explaining the Cambrian explosion, or what he calls "Darwin's doubt." The Cambrian explosion, even according to Charles Darwin, was a valid argument against his own theory of evolution. Dr. Meyer then presented a scientific case for intelligent design.

Post-Christian Christianity from R.C. Sproul

Dr. R.C. Sproul closed our 2014 West Coast Conference with a sobering message on Jesus' answer to the question, "Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?" (Luke 13:23). After describing hell and God's justice, Dr. Sproul left us with the encouraging reminder that Jesus is King. It is He who will determine the destiny of this nation and ultimately this world.
