Ligonier Academy of Biblical and Theological Studies once again establishes Ligonier as a destination for study, fellowship, and collegial interaction essential to Ligonier's goal to "further equip Christians to know what they believe, why they believe it, how to live it, and how to share it." We are pleased to have Dr. R. Fowler White serve as its president and also as chairman of the Biblical Studies department.
Before he joined the team at Ligonier Ministries, Dr. White served for almost two decades as a professor and an administrator in theological institutions, much of that time co-laboring with Dr. Sproul. Dr. White holds degrees from Vanderbilt University (B.A., 1976; M.A. 1986), Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M., 1980), and Westminster Theological Seminary (Ph.D., 1987).
Dr. White has written and lectured on various Biblical topics, especially the Holy Spirit and His gifts, the second coming of Christ, and the covenants of God. His publications include contributions to Tabletalk, By Faith Alone (ed. G. L.W. Johnson and G. P. Waters), Whatever Happened to the Reformation? (ed. G. L. W. Johnson and R. F. White), and The Coming Evangelical Crisis (ed. J. H. Armstrong), along with numerous articles and reviews in theological journals.
As a teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church in America, he has also been active in ministering the Word in local congregations both as a Sunday School teacher and as a guest preacher. Dr. White enjoys spending time with his family, watching news and sports on television, and blogging about theology in his spare time. He and his wife, Joann, reside in Sanford, FL, and they have two children, Collin and Hilary.
