Christians are a singing people. And there is a reason for that. We have a King who came and declared victory over sin and death. And as His people, we share in that victory. We know this because He has promised it in His Word. Today on Renewing Your Mind we are bringing you a special program unlike our ordinary teaching format with Dr. Sproul. The Promise of Christmas is a result of Ligonier's music department working with Max McLean and the Fellowship of the Performing Arts. We hope you enjoy this special presentation of Old and New Testament passages about the Lord Jesus Christ interspersed with selections of classic Christmas music, including traditional hymns and Handel's Messiah.
The presentation is also available for purchase on CD or downloadable MP3.
Isaiah 9:2, 6-7
The people that walked in
darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the
shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
For
unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government
shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful,
Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Of
the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon
the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to
establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for
ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
