After completing a successful year at Ligonier Ministries, we look forward to the many opportunities in the year ahead. And thanks to the support of our generous constituents, we have an encouraging start for the new year, which will help support many new projects and conferences.
On March 15–17, R.C. Sproul will be joined by Al Mohler, John MacArthur, John Piper, and Ravi Zacharias as Ligonier Ministries hosts its 20th annual national conference, Contending for the Truth, in Orlando, Florida. The purpose of this conference is to exhort believers to become articulate defenders of the Christian faith. The lectures and question-and-answer sessions provided will present a thorough overview of the most significant assaults on Christianity in our day and help Christians understand and uncover the faulty reasoning lying behind such attacks. Today, many use postmodern philosophy to threaten the absolute truth of the Gospel. This conference will help believers critique their assumptions and intelligently affirm the reality of objective, eternal, non-negotiable truth to a society that denies its very existence. Registration is now being taken for this conference.
In the fall, we will be offering three regional conferences in Portland, Oregon; Charlotte, North Carolina; and a third location yet to be determined. The topic will be the sovereignty of God. We will also be hosting our 5th annual pastors conference in Orlando, Florida.
On June 16–23, we will set sail on the 2007 Canada & New England Discovery cruise to explore God's creation and grow in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Dr. Sproul will lecture on developing Christian character as we journey through the backdrop of sites important to world history and the development of Christian theology and Puritan thought in the New World.
In December 2005, Renewing Your Mind with Dr. R.C. Sproul (RYM) began broadcasting to more than fourteen million subscribers on the National Religious Broadcaster's (NRB) channel 378 on DirecTV®. This year, RYM will begin airing the Dust to Glory series for thirty minutes on Sundays at 4:30 p.m. EST instead of the previous daily format. This endeavor with the NRB network strengthens Christian broadcasting by providing quality programming on church history, Bible study, and cultural issues.
Several new resources are set for release in 2007 from our music division, Reformation Trust, and Soli Deo Gloria Publications. John Catchings, renowned cellist who has appeared on thousands of records, will be releasing Wayfaring Stranger, and the St. Andrew's Strings quartet from Dr. Sproul's church, St. Andrew's Chapel, will be recording the album Simple Gifts. Other new music releases include an organ and trumpet album by Terry Yount and Chris Dolske and Puritan Sketches by Brad Kelley, which is a record of musical meditations on The Valley of Vision prayers.
A new series of biographical books will be debuting from Reformation Trust Publishing that will highlight the lives of godly men. The first book in this series will be The Expository Genius of John Calvin by Dr. Steven Lawson. New publishing projects from Soli Deo Gloria Publishing that we are considering are The Gospel Ministry by Thomas Foxcroft and The Sermons of Jonathan Edwards Jr. by Jonathan Edwards Jr.
We are excited to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Tabletalk magazine. Ligonier Ministries' purpose is to awaken as many people as possible to the holiness of God by proclaiming, teaching, and defending God's holiness in all its fullness. Now in its thirtieth year, Tabletalk magazine was designed to serve as a printed proclamation of that holiness. From daily readings to thought-provoking articles from a biblical perspective, Tabletalk helps keep you grounded in Scripture every day, all year long. The May 2007 issue will be a special double issue that will serve to explain the purpose of the magazine and help readers understand how best to read and use it.
We will also make continued improvements and develop new features for our new website launched last fall. Ligonier.org combines daily Renewing Your Mind TV and radio broadcasts with regularly updated articles from a variety of authors. It includes a special section called “Questions Answered” where you can get biblical answers to difficult questions.
As we venture into the year ahead, we thank you in advance for your prayers and support as we continually seek to awaken as many people as possible to God's holiness.
